Bowiea volubilis aka Climbing Onion.
Sold in 9cm pots and currently dormant.
The onion-like bulb sits above the soil and grows delicate vines (technically an inflorescence) from the top of the bulb from spring through into summer. Small yellow/green flowers are produced during summer.
Its vines can grow up to 4m and can be trained up supports or simply left to trail.
Care requirements: Can be grown in full sun or partial shade. Let medium completely dry out before watering. A terracotta pot is ideal, as it will soak up additional moisture. Repot once the roots have filled the pot into a gritty, free draining mix.
Will go dormant during autumn/winter, so do not water, else the bulb will rot.
Keep in a sheltered location where it will be kept dry - an unheated greenhouse works well.
